Why drainage is specified differently on guest-facing property
On a resort, standing water is never just a maintenance item. A puddle on a pool deck is a slip-and-fall claim waiting for a barefoot guest. Ponding at the porte-cochère greets every arrival, and a flooded patio closes an outdoor dining room on the one night it was fully booked. The drainage has to work — and it also has to disappear into pavers, stamped concrete, and stone, hold up to daily pressure-washing, and be safe for bare feet, sandals, and heels. Load classes on a hospitality property
Most guest areas are Class A (pedestrian) surfaces: pool decks, walkways, courtyards, and patios. Anywhere golf carts, luggage carts, or light service vehicles cross — cart paths, valet lanes, back-of-house corridors — step up to Class B.
