What wet areas demand of a drain
A wet area is the one place in a building where water on the floor is the design condition, not the failure. That flips the priorities: the drain has to clear water as fast as the fixtures deliver it, hold a trap seal so the room never smells like the line below it, shrug off constant moisture without corroding, and present a surface that bare feet and ADA roll-in traffic can cross safely. Curbless and barrier-free showers raise the bar again — with no curb to hold water back, the drain line and the floor slope have to do all the containment.
Getting that right is a specification exercise: body material, outlet size and orientation, membrane clamping for the waterproofing system, grate finish and slot geometry. That is exactly the kind of order we handle by quote.

Josam Shower & Floor Drains
Josam manufactures a broad commercial plumbing drainage line, including shower drains and floor drains for tiled wet areas — locker rooms, communal showers, pool surrounds, and commercial washrooms — in a range of body styles, outlet configurations, and strainer options. We carry Josam trench drainage on site today and can quote the shower and floor-drain families on request; send us the spec sheet or fixture schedule and we’ll price it.

These families are not stocked in our online catalog — wet-area drains are ordered to the model numbers your waterproofing detail and plumbing plan call for. Quoting from your spec is faster and safer than guessing from a product grid.
Load class and grate safety
Wet areas are barefoot, pedestrian-only spaces — the lightest end of the A–F load-class system that governs the rest of our catalog; the Load Class Recommendation Guide explains the scale. In a shower or locker room, the ratings that matter more are about people: slot geometry that bare feet and toes can cross safely, and — for accessible roll-in showers — grates compatible with wheelchair traffic.
